Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Quality Chemical Laboratory Technician I to support quality and production operations. This entry-level role involves preparing steel, alloy, and slag specimens and performing routine chemical analyses under supervision, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and reliable results.

You will use laboratory equipment and LIMS to track samples, maintain records, and collaborate with the team to meet production schedules while following established procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to learn chemical laboratory testing procedures.
• Ability to operate computers and LIMS software.
• Mechanical aptitude to operate lab equipment and perform maintenance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Follow established procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Prepare steel, alloy, and slag specimens for chemical analysis.
• Inspect incoming test specimens and coordinate replacements when needed.
• Operate equipment including abrasive saws, grinders, and drill presses.
• Register and track specimens in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Perform routine chemical analyses on furnace and product samples using C/S and N/O instruments.
• Review data and apply corrections using established procedures and reference materials.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and proper sample identification and disposal.
• Collaborate with team members to support laboratory objectives and production schedules.
