Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Purchasing Clerk to join our client’s procurement team in Welkom, Free State. This entry-level role offers hands-on exposure to purchasing processes, supplier communications, and documentation management in a farming supplies environment.

You will support daily tasks, maintain accurate records, and learn company procurement policies while balancing office-based work with remote administrative duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-2 years administrative or clerical experience, preferably in purchasing or supply chain.
• Basic understanding of procurement principles and administrative processes.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing purchase requisitions and generating purchase orders.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
• Communicate with suppliers to confirm order details, delivery dates, and pricing.
• Receive and verify invoices against purchase orders and delivery receipts.
• Assist in tracking orders and resolving discrepancies or issues with deliveries.
• Support the purchasing team in sourcing information and obtaining quotes from suppliers.
• Maintain organized filing systems for all purchasing-related documents, both physical and digital.
• Help manage inventory levels by tracking stock movements and reorder points.
• Provide administrative support to the purchasing department as needed.
• Learn and apply company procurement policies and procedures.
