Job summary

USG’s Project Engineer is an entry-level, hands-on training role with immediate responsibilities, including troubleshooting plant issues and driving capital projects for new or modernized facilities. You’ll work under plant production or engineering managers and gain broad manufacturing exposure for advancement.

Expect supervision of some projects, collaboration with multiple departments, and opportunities to develop leadership and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate engineering degree required.
• Co-op/intern experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assists in monitoring and executing the plant safety program and acts as a safety model.
• Prepares and follows to completion all capital authority and job sheet requests.
• Collaborates with project engineers and plant staff to plan and implement major expenditures.
• Trains and supervises external contractors on safety procedures and work completion.
• Utilizes technical training to advise on engineering solutions for reliability and operations.
• Supports environmental and sustainability improvement projects.
• Assists managers with facility preparation and daily operations planning.
• Completes administrative tasks as needed for the role.
