Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a Process Technician I to support daily manufacturing operations in our Solar division. You will monitor production processes, identify abnormalities, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

This entry-level role offers hands-on exposure to automated production systems and opportunities to grow into more advanced technical responsibilities. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Electronics, Materials Science, or related field OR equivalent hands‑on manufacturing experience
• 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or technical environment (internship or co‑op acceptable)
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality concepts
• Ability to read work instructions, follow procedures, and document results
• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology, Materials Science, Physics, Semiconductor Technology, or related field
• Experience in a high‑volume, automated, or electronics/solar manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with MES, ERP, or production tracking systems
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of production processes to ensure SOPs
• Monitor production metrics such as yield, repair rate, output performance, fragmentation rate, and line efficiency
• Support production teams in meeting quality, safety, and productivity targets
• Identify, document, and report process abnormalities or equipment‑related issues
• Assist with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
• Collect and analyze process data; elevate trends to supervisors or engineers
• Follow standardized work instructions and verify execution on the floor
• Assist with onboarding and training of new operators
• Help reinforce SOP compliance and safe work practices
• Participate in on‑site process improvement activities and kaizen initiatives
• Assist with implementation and validation of improvement actions
• Provide suggestions to enhance process stability, safety, and efficiency
• Assist with MES tasks, including order setup, checks, and data verification
• Ensure production orders are executed per system instructions
• Support coordination between production, quality, and engineering related to MES issues
