Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant / Medical Assistant to provide basic patient care and support across assigned units. Responsibilities include collecting vital signs, performing venipuncture, obtaining 12-lead EKG, POCT, assisting with activities of daily living, and ensuring privacy and infection control.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent or completion of an approved health program, plus BLS. Day shift, equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or completion of supported health programs.
• Liberal prerequisites include recognized nursing/medical assisting tracks.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquires 12 lead EKG and reports POCT results.
• Assists with patient activities and care per plan of care.
• Maintains patient hygiene and privacy, follows infection control procedures.
• Supports patient safety, mobility, and dignity throughout care.
