Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a part-time night shift nursing support role to provide technical assistance and patient care across assigned units. You will collect vitals, draw blood, perform POCT, and assist with procedures while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Leadership and mentorship for the unit are expected. Responsibilities include patient assistance, hygiene, feeding, mobility support, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure quality care delivery in a dynamic hospital

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of hospital experience with completion of a recognized program.
Completion of a Nurse Assistant, Medical Corpsman, or EMT program OR enrollment in a School of Nursing with clinical concepts completed.
Documentation of two or more of the listed competencies (e.g., POCT site management, cross-training to HUC duties, cast placement, high-level disinfection, etc.).
BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

Collects, reports, and documents data and takes vital signs, height/weight, intake/output and oxygen saturation.
Obtains blood samples by venipuncture and acquires 12-lead EKG.
Performs POCT and assists with patient activities and care per plan of care.
Maintains patient safety, privacy, and infection control; assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Provides patient care in a correctional environment and mentors assigned unit staff.
