Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a nursing assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct unit coordination. The role includes performing basic nursing procedures for stable patients and assisting RNs with acutely ill patients while following hospital policies and HIPAA guidelines.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 weeks of training if needed, good communication, math, and computer skills, and availability for a 36-hour work week on a 3x12 rotation

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 weeks of training required for those with limited or no experience.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, mobility, specimens, I&O, meals, glucose testing).
  • Participates in unit coordination: admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily bed management.
  • Maintains a clean, safe patient environment; adheres to infection control standards.
  • Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, and treatments in EMR; communicates changes to RN.
  • Supports quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and promotes safety and orderly care.
