Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Novice, an entry-level role for PCT graduates or PCA immersion participants. You will perform delegated patient care tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse, respond to call lights, and document care and observations in accordance with policy.

You will support non-nursing functions, communicate effectively with patients, families and staff, and help maintain patient safety, privacy and comfort while advancing basic care knowledge

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a PCT program graduate or CNA/CMA credentialed, or participate in PCA immersion.
• BLS certification within 1 month.

Responsibilities

• Respond to call lights and assist with direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Document care, measurements and procedures according to policy.
• Support non-nursing tasks and maintain patient safety and comfort.
