UT-Battelle at Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks an entry-level Core Components and Fabrication Engineer to support design, manufacturing, and fabrication of reactor core components for HFIR. You will assist in design calculations, fabrication, and documentation in a safety-conscious environment.

The role involves preparing specifications, aligning with ASME, GD&T, and ISO practices, and providing engineering support for operations and maintenance.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience in mechanical/manufacturing engineering, including internships.

Responsibilities

• Support design engineering for HFIR SSC upgrades with calculations per codes.
• Fabricate and assemble reactor core components and tooling per HFIR specs.
• Prepare material specs and support procurement.
• Maintain engineering drawings and specifications with change control.
• Write work package instructions and assist field crews.
• Troubleshoot failures and support HFIR reliability programs.
• Follow safety, environmental, health, and quality requirements.
• Promote ORNL core values and equal opportunity.
