Job summary

Standard Nuclear, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support fuel development and manufacturing by designing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production systems at our Oak Ridge, TN facility.

This hands-on role spans concept through commissioning and requires collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, EH&S, and external vendors. The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical design fundamentals, fabrication judgment, and disciplined documentation to help enable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of mechanical design or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience designing equipment, fixtures, tooling, or production hardware.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in fabrication, installation, or troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (nuclear, aerospace, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs for equipment, tooling, fixtures, and handling systems.
  • Create and review drawings and specifications for manufacturing equipment.
  • Support concept through commissioning of new or modified equipment.
  • Evaluate performance for reliability and manufacturability.
  • Ensure safe operation and maintainability of designs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to meet schedules.
