Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an engineer or scientist to provide technical oversight of nuclear reactor core component manufacturing within the Core Assembly group. You will collaborate with design, materials engineering, manufacturing partners, and government stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery for NIMITZ, VIRGINIA, FORD, and COLUMBIA-class programs.

The Intermediate Engineer will support issue resolution, drive production process improvements, and lead technical plans, qualification

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering or science field with 2+ years of relevant experience; or Master's with 1+ year; or current Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and direction for the manufacture of reactor core components.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering organizations, manufacturing partners, and government stakeholders to ensure successful, on time delivery of reactor core components.
  • Monitor production progress, help identify risks or emerging issues, and contribute to process and quality improvement activities.
  • Develop and support technical plans, qualification activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical issues and support routine engineering tasks.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of technical requirements, design changes, and contract changes.
  • Support initiatives led by partner engineering organizations and contribute to cross organizational improvement efforts.
  • Perform occasional travel to supplier facilities to support issue resolution, production readiness, and technical reviews.
