Job summary

The Core Assembly engineering group within Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Core Manufacturing organization seeks an experienced engineer to provide technical oversight of nuclear reactor core component manufacturing, supporting NIMITZ, VIRGINIA, FORD, and COLUMBIA-class programs in collaboration with design, materials engineering, and government stakeholders.

The Senior Engineer will drive issue resolution, lead production process improvements, and mentor early career engineers while developing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field with at least 6 years of relevant experience; or Master’s with at least 4 years; or Doctorate with at least 1 year; or Senior Reactor Training Engineer/Refueling Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and direction for the manufacture of reactor core components.
• Collaborate with internal engineering organizations, manufacturing partners, and government stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery.
• Monitor production progress, identify risks or emerging issues, and recommend process and quality improvements.
• Develop, review, and support technical plans, qualification activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead resolution of complex technical issues and mentor early career engineers.
• Participate in evaluation and implementation of technical requirements, design changes, and contract changes.
• Support initiatives led by partner engineering organizations and contribute to cross organizational improvement efforts.
• Perform occasional travel to supplier facilities to support issue resolution and production readiness.
