Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer in Atlanta, GA to support design, development, building, testing and inspection of mechanical systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects. You will assist with data collection, analyses, and documentation under supervision, contributing to project success.

The role emphasizes learning and professional growth with exposure to AutoCAD/CAM, design calculations, and site observations, while upholding safety and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0–1 year of relevant post-education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build concepts and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and common office tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or CAM is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from site materials and drawings for project development and design.
  • Support basic professional mechanical engineering work related to research and inspections of site conditions and equipment.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on engineering issues.
  • Generate documentation and specifications using electronic systems and field logs.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures including data collection and surveys.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks and follow company policies.
  • Contribute to cost control and resource management as required.
