Job summary

Prince George’s County DPW&T is seeking qualified applicants for a Masonry Mechanic I (Masonry Mechanic 1A) in the Office of Highway Maintenance, Forestville, MD. Entry-level cement/brick finishing duties include forming, pouring, finishing concrete, and related tasks under supervision.

Minimum qualifications include high school completion, experience with cement finishing, and a valid driver’s license. CDL and snow plowing experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and less complex cement/brick finishing duties.
• Removes old concrete, sets forms, mixes, places, and finishes new concrete.
• Places expansion joints in sidewalks, curb & gutter, and driveways.
• Smooths and levels cement surfaces with trowels and tools.
• Applies finishing coat of cement to surfaces of streets, sidewalks, bridgework.
• Measures dimensions to calculate material quantities.
• Draws from stock and procures materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Assists in investigation of service requests/complaints.
• Assists in initiating corrective actions to rectify problems.
• Designs and constructs forms for pouring cement with precise measurements.
• Willingly performs additional related tasks as needed.
