The Superior Court of California, County of Alameda is accepting applications for the position of Legal Processing Assistant - Probationary.

Under supervision, the Legal Processing Assistant Probationary receives, examines, prepares, files, processes and maintains a variety of legal documents; assists the public in person and over the telephone; verifies, enters, and retrieves information from automated and manual record keeping systems; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of full-time clerical and customer service experience.
• Basic computer skills and business English; cash handling desirable.
• Knowledge of filing and record-keeping practices.

Responsibilities

• Receives, examines, files and processes legal documents; maintains records.
• Provides customer service at the counter, by phone and online.
• Verifies, enters, retrieves and updates information in court systems.
• Prepares and files legal materials; handles filings and docketing.
• Manages payments, fees and daily financial records; balancing cash.
• Prepares calendars and coordinates hearings with various departments.
