Job summary

UES, Inc. in La Feria, Texas is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join our geotechnical and materials testing team.

You will perform testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and related construction materials to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical coursework preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical lab work.
• Commitment to workplace safety and PPE protocols.
• Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Field Data Collection software preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret procedures, manuals, and reports.
• Mathematical skills to handle units and conversions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational, time management, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality.
• Ability to work independently within your experience level.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move materials.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials following ASTM/AASHTO and project standards.
• Document and report test results with detailed, organized records.
• Assist with sample preparation, handling, and storage to maintain integrity.
• Operate laboratory testing equipment.
• Follow strict safety protocols and use PPE.
• Communicate results and issues with supervision, engineers, and field personnel.
• Support the lab team, field technicians, and project managers as needed.
