Job summary

The University of Texas Tyler campus is seeking an entry-level IT Support Specialist to assist with customer support for university information technology systems and operate automated office equipment in a networked environment.

Under close supervision, you will troubleshoot basic computer problems, assist users with software and hardware, document work in ServiceNow, and help maintain security controls. A relevant associate degree is required, with a bachelor’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
• 1 year experience relating to network communication, computer system hardware and software.
• May accept a combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs entry level troubleshooting, maintenance, testing and resolution of basic computer related problems.
• Provides customer service and answers user inquiries regarding basic computer software, hardware operation, and the use of software applications.
• Performs the setup of equipment for employee use and proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
• Document all work in ServiceNow, communicate with customers through support tickets in ServiceNow and create KB articles.
• Ensures that appropriate security controls over software are maintained.
• Assists in the update of computers and application programs.
