Job summary

Service Express in Grand Rapids is seeking a Production Technician I to test, troubleshoot, disassemble, and prepare enterprise IT equipment for its next life. You’ll receive hands‑on training from a mentor and be supported by a collaborative team that’s invested in your success from day one.

This role focuses on re-qualifying, refurbishing, and stress-testing servers and networking gear, inspecting parts, and supporting supply chain activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Interest in tinkering with electronics and building computers.
• Ability to tackle new technical problems and equipment.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Re-qualify, refurbish, and stress-test servers, disk arrays, and networking gear across multiple OEM brands using specialized diagnostic tools.
• Inspect and recertify parts, performing root-cause determinations and hardware resolution.
• Disassemble tested systems into spare parts for inventory preparation.
• Tag, bag, and document all tested and approved spare parts per company standards.
• Assist operational teams in testing and configuring server, storage and networking product lines.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Contribute to process development to increase throughput efficiency.
• Coordinate with planning and procurement to resolve parts queries and support supply chain efficiency.
• Investigate hardware/software issues to identify root causes and participate in post-mortem analyses with L3 Support and R&D.
• Perform other duties to support business needs and continually develop technical skills.
