Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support the delivery of instrumentation, control, and automation solutions for energy services projects.

You will work under senior engineers, preparing calculations and drawings, and gaining hands-on experience across PLC, DCS, SCADA systems and related networks. You will contribute to safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy solutions, with mentorship and training designed to build knowledge and career growth within

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering from an accredited university required.
• Must have passed or be eligible to sit for the FE exam by graduation.
• 0 to 2 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience; internships or co-ops related to process control preferred.
• Coursework knowledge of process measurement and control elements; PID control.
• Exposure to PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, safety instrumented systems and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instrumentation and controls design and production of deliverables for energy services projects.
• Prepare instrument index, datasheets, loop diagrams, P&ID markups, wiring and termination details, panel layouts, I/O lists.
• Support instrument sizing and selection calculations including flow, valve, level, pressure, and temperature sizing.
• Learn and apply control system architectures and communication requirements including various protocols.
• Draft control narratives, technical reports, and construction documents for senior review.
• Perform self-checks and assist with quality control reviews at project milestones.
• Help resolve design and construction-phase issues and review vendor submittals.
• Support factory acceptance testing, loop checks, and commissioning under supervision.
