Job summary

NECI, a leading automation solutions provider, seeks an entry-level I&C Engineer eager to learn about industrial automation, instrumentation, electrical systems and process control. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, technicians, project managers and customers on diverse projects.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in panel design, wiring diagrams, startups, commissioning and field service while developing practical skills in safety, quality and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 0–2 years of experience including internships/co-ops.
• Interest in automation, electrical systems, instrumentation, and field work.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring diagrams.
• Interest in learning about sensors (temperature, pressure, flow).
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN or similar software is helpful but not required.
• Good communication, organization, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and learn from experienced team members.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed.

Responsibilities

• Design control panels and electrical systems.
• Read and update electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Assist with control system startups, testing and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot sensors, wiring, signals and control systems.
• Support PLC and DCS projects.
• Review electrical installation work and vendor information.
• Assist with customer site visits, project estimates and material lists.
• Prepare project documents, test records and punch lists.
• Collaborate with customers and project teams to solve problems and complete projects.
• Follow safety and quality requirements and speak up if unsafe.
