Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking an entry-level GIS Technician to support designers, engineers, and GIS management. You will prepare cartographic drawings, web maps, and dashboards using ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microstation, while ensuring QA/QC standards.

You will assist with field data collection, GIS data maintenance, and generating client-ready drawings. A high school diploma is required; associates or bachelor’s in GIS are preferred, with 0–2 years CAD/GIS experience.

Qualifications

• Required High school degree or GED.
• Preferred Associates degree (AA or equivalent from two-year college or technical school).
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science and/or GIS Certification.
• 0-2 Year(s) Experience in GIS and/or CAD programs and working in the GIS utility industry.
• Moderate amount of on-the-job training to use client programs and processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings using ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Microstation, or other integrated drawing packages.
• Assist in creating web-based mapping tools (ESRI ArcGIS Online) webapps, webmaps, and dashboards.
• Fully proficient with placement and maintenance of graphical features in client GIS systems such as ArcFM, Intergraph FRAMME, Small World, or G-Tech.
• Develop knowledge of client construction standards and utility information systems.
• Develop and maintain drawing standards (fonts, line weights, border sheets, naming conventions).
• Documentation and report preparations with MS Word, Excel, Access, Fulcrum, Nitro Pro, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Assist with field data collection tools, GPS, and post-processing.
• Support the maintenance and operation of client’s mapping and GIS applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
