Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Full-Time Entry-Level Geoscientist to join our team.

The successful applicant will be supervised by our Lead Geophysicist and will collaborate with remote sensing, geospatial field services, and geotechnical engineering teams on renewable energy and power-related projects. Responsibilities include planning surveys, processing data, coordinating site investigations, and preparing geophysical deliverables and proposals.

Qualifications

• Completion or near completion of a B.S. or M.S. in geological sciences.
• 1-3 years of related work experience preferred.
• Experience collecting and processing near-surface geophysical data, specifically with GPR and magnetometers.
• Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and testing, remote sensing fundamentals, and GIS analysis.
• Strong technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients, orally and in writing, in English.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own work.
• Ability to work independently and manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.
• Valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record.
• Ability to travel and work in the field for extended periods (up to 2 weeks) or 15-20% overall.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains associated with undeveloped sites and active construction projects.
• MS Office proficiency; knowledge of Oasis Montaj, ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan geophysical surveys and acquire data in the field (GPR, resistivity, magnetometer).
• Process and interpret geophysical and remote sensing data.
• Lead on-site coordination of geotechnical investigations, manage drilling subcontractors, and log soil samples.
• Prepare geophysical, remote sensing, and geotechnical deliverables and proposals.
• Update management on status, workload, and progress.
