Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking an Entry Level Geologist/Environmental Scientist for our Phoenix, AZ office.

You will support field sampling for groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil; oversee soil boring and bedrock coring; and help with reporting, data interpretation, and map development. Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of experience, a BS in Environmental Science or Geology, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of professional experience in environmental geology or science
• BS in Environmental Science or Geology; MS preferred
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to participate in field work and operate basic hand tools and field equipment
• 40-hour Hazwoper training (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and prepare raw data for project reports, plans, permits, and cost estimates
• Participate in field work to support sampling and site investigations
• Coordinate tasks with team to complete assignments and report progress
• Apply engineering/scientific principles and industry standards in field and design work
• Support reporting and interpretation of environmental data and develop maps and cross sections
