Job summary

Coast Guard Exchange in Cape May, NJ is seeking a Food Service Worker-01 to join its team. The role involves serving, cleaning, prep work, and maintaining kitchen areas. Location is Cape May, NJ with duties across serving, prep, and dishwashing areas.

You will follow supervisor instructions, adhere to safety standards, and be evaluated on basic food service tasks. The position supports a vital Coast Guard community environment.

Qualifications

• No previous work experience required but must have the ability to read and understand written material and follow instructions. Must be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
• Six months’ experience in a food service facility.

Responsibilities

• Sets up serving area with glasses, silverware, butter, condiments, salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on serving counter as instructed.
• Cleans tables of paper, other trash, or soiled linens, and wipes tables with towel to remove crumbs or other food particles.
• Removes soiled dishes from tables and transports them to the dishwashing area.
• Cuts, scrapes, chops, dices, and peels fruits and vegetables; may operate can opener or potato peeler.
• Separates food waste and trash; loads dishes in dishwasher and stores them.
• Cleans cooking and service equipment; cleans work tables and grease traps; carries supplies between storeroom, kitchen and dining area.
• Receives instructions from supervisor and completes duties independently.
• Adheres to safety regulations and reports hazards or injuries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
