Job summary

Beaufort County is seeking a fleet maintenance technician to perform service and mechanical repairs on light-duty vehicles. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and record-keeping for vehicle history and parts usage.

Qualifications

Over 1–2 years of automotive systems and repairs experience or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Diagnose major/minor mechanical problems and implement repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment.
Prepare and submit work orders.
Maintain lubrication and parts records, stock levels, and service history.
Replace worn components (belts, filters, tires) and inspect braking, cooling, and electrical systems.
Assist with engine/transmission work and overhauls as needed.
Fabricate or modify parts as authorized and maintain accurate time and material records.
