Job summary

Beaufort County Community College is seeking a Fleet Maintenance/CDL Mechanic to perform general and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel trucks, trailers, and related equipment for the Commercial Transportation department. The role may assist with fleet maintenance and driving classes.

The position requires knowledge of diesel mechanics, with preferred qualifications including an associate degree and 2+ years of experience with heavy-duty trucks and equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and ability to diagnose and repair mechanical diesel and heavy-truck systems.
• Experience with diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks, trailers, and related equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, trailers, and related equipment ( brakes, tires, clutches, AC, etc.).
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance using diagnostic software.
• Maintain shop safety and organization.
• Respond to and provide support for on-road breakdowns.
• Maintain on-call availability as needed.
