Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is hiring a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician for our Greensboro team. No prior experience required; you’ll learn under experienced professionals and receive paid training plus certification support.

You’ll conduct field observations, sampling, and testing of soils, aggregates, and concrete, and you’ll develop skills through on‑the‑job guidance and formal training opportunities across multiple standards and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
• Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; Execute tasks under supervision.
• Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment.
• Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; attend project meetings as requested; organize field equipment.
