Job summary

Forged Fiber in Omaha, NE is hiring an entry-level Fiber Installer to install, repair, and test internet services for homes and small businesses. No prior experience required; outdoor work and customer service skills are a plus.

You will perform installations, communicate clearly with customers, and troubleshoot fiber drops using standard tools. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather; typical schedule includes full-time shifts with possible

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to climb and work at elevations over 18 feet.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• High school diploma required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-home installation and service work for consumer and small business customers.
• Explain features and usage of equipment to customers on-site and by phone.
• Identify additional service opportunities based on customer needs.
• Carry out Line Station Transfer (LST) tasks and splitter port modifications.
• Install, repair, reconnect, rearrange and hang aerial drops as needed.
• Place, flag, and bury or dig in buried drops for permanent installations.
• Place, flag, and bury or dig in temporary buried drops.
• Repair buried drops and repair existing ones.
• Isolate fiber faults using OTDR, Opti-meter, or fault finder.
• Install mechanical connectors and perform fiber fusion splicing.
• Read and interpret service orders and diagrams.
• Receive work orders and perform specified work.
