Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Neurodiagnostic 1 (EMG) professional to support nerve conduction studies and EMG procedures. This entry-level role emphasizes patient care, collaboration with neurologists, and development of specialized neurodiagnostic skills in an outpatient setting.

You will train with experienced providers, work with adult and pediatric patients, and have opportunities for professional growth and certifications within a supportive academic medical center environment.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in or graduation from an accredited health education program or associate’s degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• 2 years’ experience in patient environment preferred, pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform nerve conduction studies for adult and pediatric patients.
• Assist providers during EMG and neuromuscular ultrasound procedures.
• Prepare patients for testing and explain procedures clearly and compassionately.
• Review orders and ensure accurate patient documentation.
• Maintain exam rooms, laboratory equipment, and clinical supplies.
• Coordinate with physicians and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow.
• Assist with billing, order management, and administrative processes.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and help maintain operational readiness.
• Support compliance with safety, accreditation, and confidentiality standards.
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
