Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. in Sugar Land, Texas is seeking an entry-level Environmental Health and Safety assistant to support the EHS officer and ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance at the facility.

The role requires attention to detail, collaboration, and willingness to work some weekends and nights as needed. An Associate degree or related experience is preferred, with familiarity of OSHA regulations and MS Office encouraged.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to formulate reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
• Associate degree or work experience in lieu of degree required; related safety disciplines are a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; teamwork essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of environmental health and safety at the facility.
• Monitor, process safety, emergency response, inspections and audits, waste management, training, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement on-site EHS protocols and procedures per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee hazardous work to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Review and update Standard Operating Procedures for hazardous waste operations.
