Job summary

Applied-Optoelectronics-Inc. is seeking an entry-level EHS Assistant to support the EHS officer in maintaining health, safety, and environmental compliance at our Sugar Land, Texas facility.

The role requires attentiveness, reliability, and a willingness to work some weekends and nights as needed. You will assist with environmental health and safety tasks, support training and audits, maintain records, and help implement site procedures in line with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Certification or training in First aid/CPR and emergency response preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of environmental health and safety tasks at the facility.
• Duties include monitoring, process safety, emergency response, audits, waste management, training, record keeping, and regulatory compliance.
• Work with EHS Manager to develop and implement site EHS protocols and procedures per corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with and oversee hazardous work to ensure employee safety and compliance with regulations.
• Review and update SOPs specific to hazardous waste operations at the site.
• Conduct EHS compliance audits, regulatory inspections, training, and risk assessments.
