Job summary

The Chadds Ford, PA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level (Staff) Engineer to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with an interest in developing both field and analytical skills, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

You will work under supervision to develop CAD drawings, complete construction documents, and perform hydraulic design and field data collection.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement.
• Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several months away from the office.
• Preferred internship or professional work in related fields (geotechnical, construction, civil engineering).
• EIT certification.

Responsibilities

• Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists under supervision.
• Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input from senior engineers.
• Prepare complete plans and specifications to be part of construction documents.
• Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports.
• Perform design calculations for hydraulic structures including spillways, dam outlet works, diversion and check structures, measurement flumes, and other raw water infrastructure.
• Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.
• Collect data and measurements in the field.
