Job summary

Butte County is recruiting Correctional Deputies I and II to help maintain jail security and inmate welfare on assigned shifts. You will document incidents, manage logs, and ensure daily operations run smoothly.

Under supervision, you will process inmates, supervise activities, escort inmates to court and medical appointments, and prepare detailed reports. This role requires a valid CA driver’s license and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of jail operations and inmate rights.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain logs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inmate security and monitor activity.
• Process inmates at intake, fingerprinting, and releases; manage logs and property.
• Supervise inmate work crews and ensure program compliance.
• Escort inmates to court, appointments, and meals; manage visiting and transportation.
