Job summary

The Sheriff’s Office is hiring a Sheriff’s Correctional Deputy Cadet - Unclassified to enter training and join the ranks of correctional deputies responsible for inmate security, transport to court and medical facilities, and supervision of inmates on county works.

Candidates must meet standard requirements such as a high school diploma or GED, a valid California driver’s license, no felony history, legal right to work in the United States, and ability to pass medical and background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a thorough medical examination.
• Must pass an agility test as part of the examination process.
• Must maintain physical fitness to perform job duties.
• Must successfully complete a background investigation including fingerprints.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security of inmates within a detention facility.
• Transport inmates to and from court, medical facilities, and other locations.
• Supervise a crew of inmates on county work projects.
• Assist in correction of antisocial attitudes and behavior.
• Attend the Adult Correctional Academy training program as trainee.
