Job summary

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is seeking an Entry Level Cook (Cook 1) for multiple dining venues at Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant. This full-time position offers a starting wage of $15 per hour, with varying schedules including weekends and holidays.

You will work under a Sous Chef, prepare ingredients, follow recipes, and uphold food safety and quality standards in a high-volume kitchen. English literacy, basic culinary knowledge, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, read, and write English.
• Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain).
• 6 months of culinary experience OR equivalent culinary education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.).
• Cook food using a variety of methods (grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil).
• Ensure food is properly seasoned, garnished, and visually appealing.
• Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods.
• Taste food prior to service to ensure quality.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation.
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
• Assist with kitchen setup, service, and cleanup.
• Minimize waste through proper portioning and production levels.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
