Job summary

Sodexo at the University of Southern Maine - Gorham campus is seeking a Cook I to prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold items for all meals and events. In a fast-paced kitchen, you will follow recipes, maintain safe food-handling practices, and support teamwork while keeping stations clean and organized.

A High School diploma or equivalent and 0–2 years’ experience are typical, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Familiar with basic kitchen equipment and food handling.
• Ability to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, cooking, and serving various dishes.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and maintain records for production planning.
• Significant walking or mobility, standing for extended periods.
• Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Attend shifts on time and collaborate with the team.
