Job summary

S&ME, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Engineer in Charlotte, NC.

You will work under a licensed engineer to manage field investigations, log soil samples, perform calculations, and assist in proposals and reports while supporting projects and clients. The role offers growth through mentorship, training, and opportunities across geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction material testing projects within a diverse client base.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Willing to obtain at least one industry certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Testing construction materials: perform tests and oversee inspections to ensure compliance with specs.
• Analyzing construction plans and specifications to verify alignment with project goals.
• Recording and managing field activities with detailed observations and test results.
• Preparing reports and proposals for smaller projects with thorough assessments.
• Communicating daily with management, contractors, and clients to provide updates.
