Job summary

S&ME Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina, seeks an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to support civil, geotechnical, and environmental projects under licensed professionals.

You will gain hands-on field and office experience, performing soil boring oversight, data analysis, reporting, and collaboration with project teams to meet regulatory requirements. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with the desire to pursue PE licensure.
• Interest in geotechnical field and analytical work.
• Basic technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Field Investigations & Exploration: conduct fieldwork including soil borings, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation, soil/rock classification, in-situ testing, and sample collection.
• Data Analysis & Technical Support: analyze subsurface conditions, support laboratory testing, interpret data, and assist with evaluations.
• Reporting & Documentation: prepare data tables, figures, and reports; compare results to regulatory standards; assist in writing technical reports.
• Construction & Environmental Inspections: perform inspections and document site conditions to ensure compliance with plans and regulations.
• Collaboration & Communication: coordinate with drilling contractors, laboratories, vendors, and project teams; communicate with staff and clients.
