Job summary

S&ME seeks an entry-level Construction Materials Engineer to join our Raleigh, NC team. You will assist in field investigations, log soil samples, perform calculations, and help prepare proposals and reports under a licensed engineer.

This role offers mentorship and training as you grow across diverse projects. A Civil/Geotechnical Bachelor’s and EIT track are required, with long-term career development and ESOP benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or similar.
• 0-2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or on track to obtain it.
• Desire to obtain at least one industry certification within 6 months.
• Basic math and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test construction materials (soil, concrete, asphalt) and oversee inspections.
• Analyze construction plans and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Record field activities and manage data using Metafield or similar systems.
• Prepare reports and proposals for smaller projects with accuracy.
• Communicate with management, contractors, and clients on progress.
