Job summary
S&ME Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Engineer to join our Construction Services team.
Under a Licensed Engineer's guidance, you will manage field investigations, log soil samples, perform calculations, and assist in proposals and reports for projects. You will perform material tests (soil, concrete, asphalt), analyze plans, record field data daily, and communicate progress with stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar field.
- 0–2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or on track to obtain it.
- Willingness to obtain at least one industry certification within 6 months.
- Strong English communication and basic math skills.
Responsibilities
- Test construction materials (soil, concrete, asphalt) to meet specs.
- Analyze plans and specifications before field observations.
- Record field activities and test results using Metafield daily.
- Prepare reports and proposals for smaller projects.
- Communicate with management, contractors, and clients regularly.
