Job summary

IES Communications is hiring a Communications Technician I to join our technical team in the field. The role typically requires zero to one year of experience in the structured cabling industry and offers full benefits after 30 days.

You will learn to install outlets, route cables, build closets, terminate devices, and complete related paperwork, while adhering to safety and quality standards. The position is full-time and onsite, with lifting, climbing, and travel within the territory expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 0–1 year experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.
• Must possess and learn to effectively use the listed tools.
• Ability to meet Company minimum driving standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall.
• Drop cable down a wall using fish tape and route through furniture.
• Build closets with backboards, racks, patch panels and fiber optics.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Complete IES paperwork accurately and on time.
• Adhere to quality and safety standards and regulations.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures and install sleeves.
