Job summary

IES Communications is seeking a Communications Technician I to contribute as a member of a technical team. The role typically requires no experience up to one year in the structured cabling industry, performing tasks in indoor or outdoor construction environments.

You will install outlets, route cables, terminate devices, and support field operations while adhering to safety and quality standards. IES offers opportunities for growth within a large electrical and communications contractor network.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• 0–1 year experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.
• Must possess and learn to effectively use the listed tools.
• Ability to meet company minimum driving standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and wall.
• Drop cable using fish tape; route through modular furniture; pre-terminate and label cables.
• Build closets with racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware; install grounding.
• Perform fire-stopping and sleeves work; pull cables through sleeves and penetrations.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork (timesheets, transfers, work orders, etc.).
• Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.
