Job summary

Vermeer is seeking a Machinist I to learn and perform setup and operation of CNC centers and related equipment. You will read blueprints, apply GD&T, and verify parts with precision measuring tools while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes safety, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement, with training through our Machining Training Program. This is an entry-level opportunity on the first shift in an on-site facility.

Qualifications

• Entry-level machining experience or formal training preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
• Learn to set up and operate CNC machining centers and related equipment.
• Ability to verify part quality using micrometers/calipers/height gauges.
• Commitment to safety, TPM/CI, and 5S in the shop.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining centers and turning centers.
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T; select tooling and load programs.
• Make basic editor changes to control and offsets as directed.
• Use micrometers/calipers/height gauges to verify tolerances.
• Safely load/unload materials; operate cranes and perform TPM.
• Apply shop math to improve accuracy and cycle time.
• Support 5S/lean and CI initiatives to protect uptime.
