Job summary

GBMC HealthCare seeks a Nursing Support/Certified Nursing Assistant to assist nurses in direct patient care and daily activities. The role requires carrying out delegated tasks under supervision while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months in direct patient care, with Maryland CNA I or II registration and CPR certification. Expect a structured, team-based environment focused on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalen t.
• At least 6 months experience in direct patient care preferred
• Current Maryland CNA registration (CNA I or CNA II)

Responsibilities

• Provides care, comfort, and safety of assigned patients under direct supervision of a nurse.
• Assists patients in activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, bed linens, etc.
• Uses infection prevention techniques to avoid contamination of patient, equipment, and supplies.
• Performs delegated nursing care procedures as directed by a nurse.
• Observes patients and reports changes in condition to nursing staff.
• Completes close observation documentation and records vital signs and intake/output.
• Delivers meals, assists with feeding if needed, and handles tray distribution.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and stocked with supplies, disposing of soiled linen.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge; transports patients as needed.
• Gathers lab specimens and sets up basic procedures such as O2 therapy and glucometer checks.
• Operates EKG equipment and IV/ saline locks under supervision.
• Prepares and participates in basic wound care and dressing changes.
