Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Frederick, MD is hiring a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician. No experience is required as you’ll be trained on-site by senior staff, with certification fees paid by the company.

Starting pay is $17 per hour, with ongoing development opportunities in a dynamic work environment. You will conduct field tests on soils, aggregates, and concrete, learn testing procedures, and progress under guidance toward certifications in CMT principles and ASTM

Qualifications

• No prior experience required.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM standards, leading to certifications.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills in speaking, reading and writing.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials (soils, aggregates, concrete) on project sites under supervision.
• Testing Procedures: Perform routine field and/or laboratory tests following industry standards.
• Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction from sampling and test results; assist with related tasks as needed.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; notify supervisor of changes or issues.
• Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology and document findings with precision.
