Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Team in Carlsbad, CA. Under direct supervision, you will assist with basic engineering designs for site layout, grading, hydraulics, water and wastewater systems, and related structures.

You will review designs for regulatory compliance, perform site reviews, and contribute to technical knowledge management through white papers and design documentation. Travel up to 20–40% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0 years travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations, ensuring policies are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
• Contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
• Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to journals and assist with posters or conference materials.
