Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Team in Carlsbad, CA. You will assist with site layout, grading, hydraulics, water distribution and storage, while learning from established engineers in a collaborative environment.

Under direct supervision, you will review designs for regulatory compliance, perform site studies, and contribute to technical knowledge management through white papers and documentation. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) 3D/4D software and practices.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and firm policies.
• Conduct site reviews and studies to align designs with location specs.
• Contribute to Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and design documentation.
• Submit technical papers and designs for publication or posters for conferences.
