Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a County Caseworker 1 in Northumberland County Child Welfare within the Department of Human Services. This full-time role involves helping children, youth, and families through entry-level social service support, engaging with community partners, and advancing service plan goals.

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday with a 30-minute lunch; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Two years of college level coursework including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or Bachelor's degree with the specified credits; or equivalent combo including one year of paraprofessional case management experience.

Responsibilities

• Family Support: maintain contact with children, parents, and foster parents to address problems.
• Safety Assessment: conduct interviews, home visits, and meetings to assess child safety and progress toward goals.
• Documentation Work: prepare forms, maintain case records, and complete required materials.
• Emergency Response: respond to and investigate reports during on-call hours.
• Community Coordination: collaborate with social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, courts, schools, and community groups to meet service plan goals.

Education

Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology or related social sciences

Two years experience as County Social Services Aide 3

Equivalent combination of education and paraprofessional case management experience
