GHJ's client, a mission‑driven nonprofit, seeks an AP Accountant to join its finance team and handle high‑volume accounts payable for multiple units, while gaining exposure to general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, month‑end close, and audit support.

Reporting to an Accounting Supervisor, this entry‑level role emphasizes hands‑on training, strong instruction, and long‑term growth for a recent Accounting graduate who is eager to learn, detail‑oriented, and collaborative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Recent graduates encouraged to apply
• Strong understanding of debits and credits and basic accounting principles
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Prior accounting or AP experience is a plus, but not required
• Detail-oriented with accuracy and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and eager to learn with initiative
• Collaborative attitude and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle, high-volume accounts payable for multiple units
• Review invoices for proper coding and supporting documentation
• Maintain vendor records and support W-9 and 1099 requirements
• Generate payments and research AP discrepancies and outstanding checks
• Reconcile monthly AP aging reports and AP-related balance sheet accounts
• Process corporate credit card expenses and employee reimbursements
• Assist with journal entries, accruals, and monthly and year-end close
• Support audit preparation and other accounting projects
• Communicate with internal teams to resolve AP and accounting questions
