Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Chicago, IL is hiring an Animal Care Technician I at the Insourcing Solutions site. You will perform daily health observations, animal husbandry duties, feed and water, cage changes, and maintain records to ensure the health of research animals.

The role requires an associates degree with 6 months animal handling or a bachelor’s in biology or animal science with no experience, and ALAT certification upon eligibility; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 6 months of animal handling, care, and husbandry experience.
• Or Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in biology or animal science or related field and zero experience in animal handling, husbandry experience.
• Achieving ALAT certification upon eligibility.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain health of research animals.
• Maintain accurate records of breeding, housing, and related activities; assist with receiving, inspection, and housing of incoming animals.
• Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species; participate in breeding and weaning procedures.
• Monitor entry to rooms, operate required equipment, and perform general housekeeping as required.
